A traditional warm reception

The Marine Hotel was built in 1900 on the sea front of Seaton Carew, a resort made popular by the Quakers of Darlington. This thriving seaside town with its long golden beaches had trams along the sea front, as well as many houses and shops.

Today The Marine Hotel, a Grade 2 listed building, stands in place of the Seven Stars Inn, a once popular public house in the 19th century. Seaton Carew remains a thriving seaside town with a promenade stretching along to Hartlepool, many shops and also a large development of housing. The Hotel (now over a hundred years old) still maintains much of its Victorian Grandeur, with many of the original fireplaces and beams throughout the building. It’s hard to believe the Restaurant was once the cottage next door to the original building, now converted to serve as the Hotel’s well known carvery Restaurant. The stables, once at the rear of the building, are now home to major part of the Hotel car parking facilities.
